Ted, i have seen the yellow table in the estimation report with the count and other measurement values described by Lloyd.
Other than the choice in shape, what i am inquiring / recomending be added is a category for organizing the measurement elements. When i am doing a takeoff for my utilities, it would be helpful if i could have create a "Storm Water" category that my catch basin counts, storm water pipe linear measurements, and subsurface stormwater area measurements could be a part of. Then a second "category" could be "Electrical" where my light pole base count, and underground electric linear measurement would be a part of.
I attached a roughly edited screenshot of a proposed version with categories to better understand my recommendation.
Thanks for sending that over—I can see what you’re trying to do.
It does make sense, and it’s actually similar to something we’ve considered before. At the moment, volume regions can’t intersect, but we’ve thought about allowing it in the future if they belong to different groups. One idea was to implement groups in a similar way to your mock up as currently measurements have no separators. We’ll need to see how well that fits into the overall design, but I’ve added your suggestion to our program documentation.
In the upcoming V7.4 release of Kubla Cubed 2024, I think you’ll really like the new upgrades to 2D take-off—it now supports labelling items. The export to PDF for area, length and count has also been improve greatly. We’ll be building on this even further in Kubla Cubed 2026. Thanks again for the input.
For now, possible workarounds would be to either prefix element names, or separate them into different phases (for example, one for electric and another for water).
